Apr 01, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Swiss food giant Nestle has announced that it will extend its product portfolio in China by investing an additional RMB 230 mln in pet food products. China is Nestle's second-largest market in the world.
Following an investment of RMB 730 mln in May 2020, Nestle officially launched two phases of the investment projects for dry pet food and wet canned-food production lines.
The first phase is focused on developing high-end products and production capacity for veterinary pet food and will go into production by end 2021. The second phase will introduce advanced technology and facilities to produce wet canned pet foods.
Nestle will also establish "smart" storage facilities for the pet food business to realize smart manufacturing and logistics.
