Dec 23, 2019 (China Knowledge) - Today the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) launched CSI 300 ETF options. Together, China Futures Exchange introduced the CSI 300 stock index option, all three option trading tools listed simultaneously.
Back in Sep 2015, China's first options on SSE 50 ETF was already introduced in the market. Since then, SSE has always maintained steady operation, and has laid the foundation for further development of option derivatives. After nearly five years, the CSI 300 ETF options and stock index options were approved in Nov this year.
In the past one month, the three exchanges have carried out various preparations, successively hammered out relevant trading rules, revised relevant management measures, and conducted detail adjustments to ensure smooth trading. Official announcement was made on Dec 13 by the three exchanges, and trading rules were issued the next day.
Currently China has become the second largest capital market in the world, and has the largest number of investors. However, China's risk management mechanism has not yet perfected. The introduction of stock index and ETF options is of special significance for promoting the long-term and stable development of China's capital market.
