Jul 25, 2019 (China Knowledge) - The latest smartphone of Huawei's Honor brand, the 9X, reportedly could share its computing power for scientific research projects under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Honor 9X series was unveiled in Xi'an city, Shaanxi Province on July 23rd.
It is said that 9X uses Huawei's latest Kirin 810 chip, which can equip the new product with artificial intelligence that powers computing ability, as well as optimizes the 9X's photo-taking functions and game-performance. Compare with the former generation Honor 8X, the Kirin 810's performance is 75% better in terms of the central processing unit.
The collaboration between Huawei Honor and CAS's Institute of High Energy Physics will provide future resources to the Circular Electron-Positron Collider. The project team expects to build a prototype of a series of key components by 2022 that is needed to explore the origin of the universe and the composition of matter.
It allows volunteers to learn about and participate in scientific research as Huawei shares the mobile computing power of such projects. This collaboration could also help solve fundamental problems that need a lot of computer resources, the Honor President Zhao Ming said.
