Dec 14, 2018 (China Knowledge) - Airbnb held a conference yesterday to review annual development of its business in the Chinese market for the year 2018 Peng Tao, president of Airbnb China, said that according to data, his company’s business in China is expected to grow nearly threefold by the end of second half of 2018. Its domestic tourism market has grown rapidly, exceeding 50% of the total business volume.
At the same time, the business of non-first-tier cities grew rapidly, among which the ten fastest growing cities were Shenzhen (more than four times), Xiamen, Changsha, Guiyang, Xi'an, Zhuhai, Guilin, Qinhuangdao, Lijiang and Harbin.
Peng Tao, while taking at the event, said that he was excited to share the rapid growth of Airbnb in China in 2018, which fully demonstrates that the company’s China market strategy was correct and effective. In the new year, Airbnb will continue to optimize the user experience online, enhance the experience of tenants on the journey, maintain a steady growth in first-tier cities, while sinking into second-tier and third-tier cities. It is hoped that in 2019, Airbnb will join hands with more partners to promote a healthy and well-planned development of the shared accommodation industry.
