Nov 21, 2018 (China Knowledge) - Didi Chuxing has said that the company has opened a laboratory in Toronto. Yu Jun, senior vice president of this company, will lead the lab to research in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligence driving.
Also, Didi announced that it has reached a strategic partnership with University of Toronto. They will carry out cooperation projects in areas, such as, automobile connectivity, AI and intelligent transportation.
The lab in Toronto is Didi's second research center in North America. Last March, Didi established its American research center in Silicon Valley, California, with a focus on the two core areas of big data security and intelligent driving. The American research center was led by Gong Fengmin, head of DiDi Labs & vice president of DiDi Research Institute.
On the other hand, according to California regulator website, in May this year, Didi Research America LLC has been approved to test autonomous vehicle, test requires a driver, on public roads in California. In addition, Didi is the 53rd company to be granted a test license, after Tesla, Ford and Apple and others.
