Aug 10, 2018 (China Knowledge) - China, the world's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) market, saw its NEV sales jump 47.7% YoY to about 84,000 units in Jul, according to the latest statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers or CAAM.
Last month, China sold nearly 74,000 new energy passenger cars including 50,000 units of blade electric vehicles and 23,000 units of hybrid electrical vehicles, up 49.4% and 118.7% YoY, respectively. However, the sales of new energy commercial cars down 18.3% YoY to about 10,000 units.
Warren Buffett backed automaker BYD sold 18,352 NEVs last month, ranked first in China, followed by SAIC Motor, BAIC BJEV, Geely Auto and Chery.
BYD Yuan EV7 tops ranking in blade electric vehicle market last month with sales of 4,174 units, while BYD Qin ranked 1st in hybrid electrical vehicle market with sales of about 3,056 units.
In the first seven months of this year, China's NEV sales totaled about 496,000 units, increased 97.1% from a year earlier. The country's NEV output grew 85% YoY to nearly 504,000 units in the reporting period.
