Jul 10, 2018 (China Knowledge) - Chinese carmaker Geely Automobile announced on Monday that total automobile sales in the first half of this year were up 44% from a year earlier, and its full-year sales are expected to exceed its target.

According to the announcement, Geely Automobile attained 48.5% of its targeted annual sales with its 766,630 units sales in the first half of the year, a little short of the halfway mark.

However, the company has expressed confidence said that it is expected to surpass the sales target of 1.58 million units for the whole year in view of the stronger-than-expected sales performance in the first half of the year and the positive market response to the launch of new models.

In June alone, Geely's total sales volume expanded 45% from a year earlier to 128,449 units while its export volume rose 150 % year-on-year to 2,011 units. With its ever-impressive sales figures, the company is trying to transform its business away from traditional manufacturing and into smart manufacturing and services as it seeks to develop a new transportation blueprint

Geely joined hands with Tencent Holdings Ltd and China Railway Investment Co., Ltd. (CRIC), to establish China Railway Gecent Technology Co., Ltd. (Gecent) on July 5 this month, in order to develop and operate an integrated one-stop platform which will provide WiFi service to high-speed rail customers across China. The platform will offer travel services including WiFi service, leisure and entertainment services, news & information and online catering.
