May 31, 2018 (China Knowledge) - UBS expects China to further relax the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) and Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (RQFII) restrictions in 2018 as the country continues to open up its financial markets.
In March this year, China grant Japan a RMB 200 bln RQFII investment quota for the first time to buy Chinese stocks, bonds and other securities. Earlier, the investment quotas for China's dollar-denominated QFII scheme rose to USD 99.46 bln at the end of April, from USD 97.16 bln in Jan. The gradual liberalization of QFII and RQFII schemes can enhance the strength of long-term investments in Chinese capital market and speed up the internationalization of the Chinese capital market and enhance its international position.
