Mar 30, 2023 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,261.25, up 0.65%, Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.62% to 11,651.83, and the Hang Seng Index rose 0.58% to 20,309. The trading volume for the three exchanges recorded RMB 1.12 trln (USD 162.72 bln).
Of the 4,945 stocks on Mainland China, there were 1,901 (38%) gainers, 2,903 (59%) decliners, and 141 (3%) remained unchanged.
A total of 22 stocks hit the max limit up while 11 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
