Wanfeng sees strong demands for its flight training and special mission aircrafts from Europe and Middle East
2021/11/24 04:01:06

Nov 24, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Last week, Diamond Aircraft Austria, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Wanfeng Auto Wheel (002085), received orders from QinetiQ GmbH in Europe and OxfordSaudia Flight Academy in Saudi Arabia, and delivered aircraft to Oman Aviation Academy (OAA) in the Middle East.

Diamond’s dedication to flight training has shaped its product line of modern fuel-efficient aircraft, each with a specific training application in mind. With its complete line of piston aircraft combining customized flight training concept on Single Engine Piston (DA40 NG) and Multi Engine Piston (DA42-VI) trainers, along with type-specific flight training simulators and proprietary jet-fuel engines, Diamond Aircraft is the only sole source provider in the flight training market.

Such specialized products and services have won Diamond a large purchase order for 60 Diamond aircraft from OxfordSaudia Flight Academy back in 2018. A further purchase includes an order for two units of Level 5 Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD). These two FSTDs are designed and configured in accordance to Diamond’s DA40 NG and DA42-VI aircraft. These new FSTDs will enable OxfordSaudia to meet the growing demand on flight training as it aims to be the leading destination for ab-initio flight training worldwide.

OxfordSaudia Flight Academy has established its center at the King Fahad International Airport in Saudi Arabia to help address the significant regional shortage of aviation training. The academy is equipped with a new fleet of 60 DA40 NG and DA42-VI aircraft in tandem with 4 FTD Diamond Simulators to ensure training accommodates the latest technologies and training methodologies.

To ensure the first aviation training academy in Oman meets the high standard of civil and military aviation training in the Middle East and Africa region, Diamond’s aircraft were chosen among other competing brands. Last week, on Nov 17, 6 units of single-engine DA40 NG and 2 twin-engine DA42-VI were delivered to OAA (a CAE Authorized Training Center) at the Sohar Airport.

Within a week, Diamond’s portfolio of Special Mission Aircraft has also received orders from Germany’s QinetiQ who has ordered 2 latest variants of DA62 MPP multi-purpose platforms. This is a key milestone for QinetiQ GmbH to deliver next generation aerial services in Europe. Equipped with the newest technology, this will support QinetiQ’s delivery of training and reconnaissance missions with exceptional long period of time to remain airborne. These specialized aircraft offer highest fuel efficiency which translate to lowest operating cost in such product category.
