Oct 14, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,558.28, down 0.10%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 14,341.38, down 0.08%. The trading volume for two exchanges recorded USD 132.4 bln, down 3.24% from the previous trading day.
Non-Ferrous Metal was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 2.25%, follows by Military and Machinery Equipment, gaining 2.05% and 1.77%, respectively. Health Care sector saw the biggest drop of 4.18%, followed by real estate (-1.99%) and agriculture (-1.44%).
Of the 4,495 stocks on Mainland China, there were 2,376 (53%) gainers, 1,908 (42%) losers, and 204 (5%) remained unchanged. There are 1 new IPOs launched today.
A total of 87 stocks hit the max limit up while 15 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
