Sep 15, 2021 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,656.22, down 0.17%, Shenzhen Component Index finished at 14,536.31, down 0.61%, the Hang Seng Index closed at 25,033.21, down 1.84%. The trading volume for three exchanges recorded USD 228.8 bln, down 8.88% from the previous trading day.
Electrical Equipment was today's top performing sector, seeing the highest rise of 1.94%, follows by Chemicals and Mining, gaining 1.58% and 1.47%, respectively. Leisure Service sector saw the biggest drop of 3.75%, followed by food & beverage (-2.50%) and construction materials (-2.38%).
Of the 4,476 stocks on Mainland China, there were 2,530 (57%) gainers, 1,831 (41%) losers, and 111 (2%) remained unchanged. There are 1 new IPOs launched today.
A total of 109 stocks hit the max limit up while 9 touched the fall limit. The CSRC set maximum 10% rise and 10% fall of a stock in a single day for all A-shares except those on the STAR Market and ChiNext board which are allowed a 20% rise or fall in a single day. These prevent stocks from being traded for the rest of the day once hitting the rise or fall limit to curb extreme volatilities in either direction.
