Dec 20, 2019 (China Knowledge) - China’s technology giant Huawei Technologies is set to partner with financial services company UnionPay to develop and launch contactless payment services electric vehicles (EV) charging stations in China.
Traditional payment systems in EV charging stations require telecom wires connecting the telecom company with individual stations. In addition, payment procedures were also often complicated with security risks.
With the new contactless payment services, EV charging stations will automatically sync user’s information, along with other details such as the vehicles, to UnionPay’s internal servers. The information will be relayed via IoT and edge computing technologies, and updated in real-time.
Huawei will be supporting the technology for the payment service. The company will utilize its IoT, edge computing and communication technologies to transfer and process the information. With the new systems, the data will be synced at a fast speed and become more secure.
