Nov 26, 2019 (China Knowledge) - China’s smartphones maker Xiaomi achieved the fourth most mobile phone shipments in Europe for Q3 this year, with a total of 5.5 mln units, up 73% YoY.
This compares to a total of 52.5 mln units of mobile phones shipped into Europe in Q3 2019, with Xiaomi taking up around 10.5% of the total market share.
Korean electronics giant Samsung had the largest number of mobile phone shipments in Europe in the latest quarter, with 18.7 mln units shipped, taking up 35.7% of total market share. Huawei and Apple came in second and third, with 22.2% and 18.6% market share respectively.
Xiaomi also achieved the largest YoY growth of mobile phone shipments in Europe in Q3 2019, significantly higher than the overall 8% YoY increase of total shipments. Following the company’s stellar Q3 performance, Lu Weibing, vice-president of Huawei, said that the company aims to explore the high-end mobile market in Europe.
The company hopes to offer a larger variety of products, and will prepare to compete with both Apple and Samsung in gaining market share.
