Kuaishou, China’s short-video streaming giant, makes plans to support about 1 million video game broadcasters on its platform. The Tencent-backed company will announce the details of this programme on its formal launch on July 23.
Kuaishou shot to fame in the China’s internet community with its 15-second videos. The company estimates it has 35 million daily active users (DAU) on its platform, which sets them well ahead on rivals like Huya and DouYu.
The company is said to help their broadcasters to earn “a substantial income” on its video game live-streaming platform. Kuaishou also uses artificial intelligence to power its content distribution system to ensure both new and existing game broadcasters can generate considerate traffic.
Yan Qiang, Vice-president of Kuaishou, is aiming to achieve 300 million total daily active users on its platform by next year 2020. This means the company is projected to rake in revenue of RMB 15 bln, up 50% YoY.
It is estimated that there were 1.4 million game broadcasters on Kuaishou in April. Meanwhile, more established game live-streaming platforms Huya and DouYu have 703,000 and 500,00 game broadcasters respectively, in the same month.
