Jan 18, 2019 (China Knowledge) - China Unicom has completed the construction of its first provincial 5G experimental network in Guizhou. The experimental network service is accessible to the consumers throughout the province; while, Guiyang has become the first Chinese city to haven been provided with the service.
Since April last year, there has been a rapid development in 5G technology. On May 26, 2018, China Unicom set up its first 5G experimental base station in Guizhou. Later, in November, the first 5G trial commercial base station started its operations. Today, the company announced the completion of the construction of its provincial 5G experimental network, through the commencement of experimental service.
Compared with 4G, 5G has a faster network speed, which can go up to 1.25G/s, and its network latency is as low as 1ms. It has the capability to connect more users, as millions of terminals can be linked per square kilometer. In addition, it has more intensive network coverage technology.
At present, residents of Shubo Avanue area can access full coverage of 5g signals. Guiyang is planning to provide 5G pre-commercial service for the Digital Expo in 2019. Meanwhile, a comprehensive application demonstration based on 5G will be built along the Shubo Avenue.
