Nov 12, 2018 (China Knowledge) - The head of the IMT-2020 (5G) wireless technology working group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Su Xin has revealed that China has initiated 6G concept research, this year. In addition to China, the U.S., Russia, the European Union and other countries and regions are also closely carrying out 6G related research work.

6G is the 6th generation mobile communication standard after 5G, also known as the 6th generation mobile communication technology. Its theoretical download speed can reach 1TB per second, and dozens of blue-light movies can be downloaded in one second. At the same time, the 6G era is expected to launch underwater communication coverage for the first time, and the underwater network will become a part of the whole network coverage system. However, the time for consumers to use 6G is still very far away. According to the forecast, 6G technology will be commercially available by 2030.

6G is still very far away, but 5G's arrival is very close. It is reported that China will issue 5G licenses as soon as possible by the end of this year. It is expected that the pre-commercial use of 5G will begin next year. From next year, more and more 5G terminal devices will appear in the market, and 5G smart phones are expected to be on the market by the first half of next year.
