
Apr. 28, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its intelligent mobile terminal shipments reached 118 million units in 2011, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 175%, which exceeded the country's total amount of intelligent mobile terminal shipments over the years, according to a white paper on China's mobile terminals industry released by China Academy of Telecommunication Research of Ministry of Telecommunication.
Last year, China saw its mobile users increased 17.5% year on year to 356 million of which 53.4% or 190 million used intelligent mobile terminal. The main intelligent mobile terminal operation systems were Android, Symbian and Apple IOS, which accounted for nearly 90% of China's market share. The country encourages domestic producers to explore producing independent operating system and develop their core technology as well as getting its own intellectual property rights.
Last month, an intelligent mobile terminal center launched in
Beijing E-Town,a
triple-A rated industrial park. The major investor,Techfaith Group, China's largest provider of original developed products (ODP) and branded mobile phone specialist in differentiated market segments, will produce high-end smart mobile terminal products such as smart phones and tablet computers in the park and aims to make it into the country's biggest intelligent mobile terminal production base.
E-Town already has a extensive electronic information industrial cluster aims to build China's largest cloud computing hub comprising of largest cloud computing R&D center, cloud computing operation and value-added service center and cloud computing system equipment manufacturing base as well as the largest cloud computing data platform. Such facilities and industrial clusters in
E-Town will further improve the development of China's intelligent mobile terminal industry.
