Jun 18 (China Knowledge) - China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd<601088><1088>, the country's largest coal producer, has said it produced 26.7 million tons of commercial coal in May, reflecting a year on year decrease of 0.4%.
Last month, the coal company sold 44.1 million tons of coal, 6.3% more than that in the same period of 2012.
Meanwhile, China Shenhua Energy said its electricity output decreased 3.3% year on year to 17.99 terawatt hours (TWh) in May, and its electricity sales dropped 3.1% from a year earlier to 16.74 TWhs.
In the first five months, the company's coal output rose 1.2% year on year to 131.9 million tons, while its coal sales for the five month period grew 5.7% year on year to 197.4 million tons.
From Jan to May, the Shanghai and Hong Kong listed company saw its electricity output amount to 85.76 TWhs, up 0.2% from a year earlier, and its electricity sales rose 0.3% year on year to 79.99 TWhs.
