Beijing E-Town to build ‘World’s Cloud Computing Center’

Dec. 17, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China’s Cloud Valley World 2012 was held in Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park, on December 12. The themes of the conference focus on several core issues including global cloud market trends and developments, China’s current market and its future, the industry’s technology and applications, and interests from the capital market.

The recent rapid development of the industry has seen Beijing E-Town becoming a pivotal role for the new generation of information technology in China.

This year many cloud related innovative products and applications have surfaced in the market and more enterprises are starting to shift their application and service into the cloud environment. The capital market has also accelerated the cloud applications deploy by plethora of cloud computing enterprises.

As one of the most important industry for Beijing's economic growth, Beijing E-Town is focusing on the cultivation and support of its strategic emerging industries including cloud computing, said an official from Beijing E-Town.

In September 2011, Beijing E-Town officially launched the China Cloud Computing Industrial Park. After a year of its introduction, more than 50 cloud computing related enterprises had settled in the park that includes Beijing Cloud Valley, Baidu, KDDI, China Telecom Beijing Co, Centrin Data Systems and Ruiyun Cloud Computing R&D and Construction Co, totaled investments exceeded RMB 20 billion. These core enterprises covered the key sectors of the cloud computing industry including data center, R&D on operating platform, value-added services and hardware production.

The construction of China Cloud Computing Industrial Park aims to create a highly integrated and innovative environment. According to its plan, the China Cloud Computing Industrial Park will center on industrial development with a cohesive industry chains. Such industrial cluster could attract over RMB 50 billion in investment, and able to accommodate more than 50,000 employees.  It is expected to realize sales revenue of over RMB 200 billion and to become the ‘world’s cloud computing center’.
