China's railway passenger volume up 4.6% in Jan-Nov

Dec. 10, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its railway passenger volume increase by 75.96 million or 4.6% YoY to 1.75 billion in the first eleven months of this year, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Railways.
 
From January to November, the railway system's cargo and package volume hit 3.56 billion metric tons during the period, including 3.55 billion metric tons of cargo.
 
The railway system transported 2.06 billion metric tons of coal in the first eleven months and it transported 126.13 million metric tons of oil, up 2% than in the corresponding period of last year.

Meanwhile it transported 93.96 million metric tons of grains and 83.73 million metric tons of fertilizer and farming pesticide during the period, reflecting growth of 5.4% and 7.3% YoY, respectively.
