>, the nation's flagship carrier, has announced it officially joins Star Alliance and becomes the 27 member of the alliance, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Join Star Alliance is a very import step for the company to layout the international market, said Wang Jie, vice president of Shenzhen Airlines.
At present, Shenzhen Airlines has 122 airplanes and aims to enlarge the fleet size to over 170 units during the "12th five year plan" period.
Star Alliance was founded in 1997 by Thai Airways, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Scandinavian Airlines and United Airlines. As of today, the alliance has 27 members with annual passenger capacity of over 600 million.
