Nov. 27, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's cement output grew 6.7% YoY to 1.8 billion metric tons in the first ten months of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the National Development and Reform Commission
From January to October 2012, China's flat glass totaled 596.99 million weight boxes, down 4.1% from a year earlier, compared with an 18% growth in the corresponding period of 2011.
The price of cement rebound in October. The average ex-factory price at major cement enterprises grew RMB 29.2 per metric ton from September but decrease RMB 41.9 per metric ton from a year earlier to RMB 346.5 per metric ton. At the end of last month, the cement inventory of these major cement enterprises had increased 2.4% YoY to 11.81 million metric tons.
The price of flat glass saw slight rebound last month, rising RMB 2.4 per weight box MoM or 0.6% YoY to RMB 63.7 per weight box.
The building material industry realized RMB 224.4 billion in profit in the first nine months of this year, reflecting a decrease of 8.2% YoY. The profit of the cement sector plunged 51.3% YoY to RMB 35.9 billion. The flat glass sector suffered a loss of RMB 840 million in the period, compared a net profit of RMB 2.84 billion in the first nine months of 2011.
