Nov. 23, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its cargo throughput of ports above designated size reach 850 million metric tons in October this year, reflecting a YoY growth of 8.3%, said the Ministry of Transport
on its website.
In October, China saw its cargo throughput for foreign trade grow 2.3% YoY to 250 million metric tons, while that of domestic trade was 600 million metric tons, up 11.1% YoY.
In the first ten months of this year, the cargo throughput of ports above designated size increased 6.7% YoY to 8.06 billion metric tons.
Meanwhile, the country’s container throughput rose 7.8% YoY to 15.08 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) last month, leading its total container throughput for the first ten months of this year to 146.1 million TEUs, up 8.1% from a year earlier.
