China's coal imports up 7.9% in Oct

Nov. 22, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its coal imports grow 7.9% YoY to 16.81 million metric tons in October this year, according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.

Last month, China's coal exports reached 441.031 metric tons. The country's net coal imports were 16.37 million metric tons in October.

In the first ten months of this year, the country's coal imports amounted to 217 million metric tons, 39.5% more than in the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, the country's import of natural gas grew 55% YoY to 1.32 million metric tons last month, leading its total import of natural gas to 12.65 million metric tons in the first ten months, up 51% YoY.
