Nov. 20, 2012 (China Knowledge) - SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Corp, a joint venture of General Motors, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co, said it has set up a net plant in Liuzhou
Zhuang Autonomous Region, source reported.
General Motors and its Chinese partners invested RMB 8 billion or US$1.3 billion for the first phase of the project.
According to a statement, the new plant will produce Baojun branded vehicles with an annual output capacity of 400,000 units.
Established in 2010, the Baojun branded autos aim to meet the ever-growing low price passenger car needs in China as well as to complete with Chinese self-owned brand vehicles such as BYD and Geely.
