Nov. 12, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's retail sales were RMB 1.89 trillion in October this year, up 14.5% YoY in nominal terms or 1.34% MoM, said the National Bureau of Statistics
Total retail sales in urban areas rose 14.5% YoY to RMB 1.64 trillion last month, while retail sales in rural areas rose 14.8% YoY to RMB 249 billion.
Retail sales in the catering industry grew 14% YoY to RMB 220.7 billion in the month, while retail sales of consumer goods rose 14.6% YoY to RMB 1.67 trillion.
The retail sales of automobiles continued to top the country's retail sales list, reaching RMB 198.7 billion in October, up 7.0% YoY. Retail sales of oil and related products came in second, hitting RMB 148.8 billion, with a 17.6% growth.
In the first ten months, the country's retails sales totaled RMB 16.84 trillion, 14.1% more than in the same period of last year.
