Nov. 5, 2012 (China Knowledge) – The gross output of China
's shipbuilding industry hit RMB 584.5 billion in the first nine months of this year, up 2.6% compared with the same period of last year, according to statistics released by the China Shipbuilding Industry Association.
During the period from January to September, China's shipbuilders had completed a total of 41.58 million dead weight tons of shipbuilding orders, decreasing 18.5% YoY, and received 15.41 million DWT of new shipbuilding orders, plunged 46.9% from a year earlier.
As of the end of September, China's shipbuilding industry saw a total 120.9 million DWT of orders in hand, down 28.4% YoY or decreased 19.4% than at the end of last year.
China Shipbuilding Industry Association said in a statement that in the first eight months of this year, China's shipbuilding enterprises with designated size or above realized RMB 441.7 billion in operation revenue, reflecting a YoY increase of 1.2%, while the profit of these enterprises amounted to RMB 18.8 billion, down 35.5% YoY.
