China's railway passenger volume up 4.3% in Jan-Oct

Nov. 5, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its railway passenger volume increase by 67.21 million or 4.3% YoY to 1.62 billion in the first ten months of this year, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Railways.
Meanwhile, the railway system's cargo and package volume hit 3.22 billion metric tons during the period.
The railway system transported 1.87 billion metric tons of coal in the first ten months, remained flat from a year earlier, while it transported 84.37 million metric tons of grains and 76.03 million metric tons of fertilizer and farming pesticide during the period, reflecting growth of 6.6% and 7.6% YoY, respectively.

The MOR said in another statement that it realized RMB 269 million in profit in Q3 this year, after suffered an after-tax loss of RMB 6.98 billion in Q1 and an after-tax loss of RMB 1.83 billion in Q2.
