's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3% during the period from July to September, edge up 0.1% from the three-month period from Jun to Aug, according to the latest workforce statistics released by the special administrative region's Census and Statistic Department.
The underemployment rate decreased 0.1 percentage points to 1.6% during the period from July to September.
Total employment decreased by around 12,400 to 3.66 million during the period from July to September. The number of unemployment rose by around 1,300 to 132,900 over the same period.
In the same period, the labor force decreased by around 11,200 to 3.79 million.
Matthew Cheung, secretary for Labor and Welfare Bureau, said that the labor market would become more uncertain in the short-term period. There might be some upward pressure on the unemployment rate in the next few months affected by the uncertain external environment.
