China's rare earth export down 31.7% in Jan-Aug

Sep. 24, 2012 (China Knowledge) - The export volume of rare earth ore, metals and mixtures in China, the world's biggest rare earth supplier, plunged 31.7% YoY to 25,792 metric tons in the first eight months of this year, according to the figures from China Customs Statistics Information Centre.

From January to August, China saw its export value of rare earth ore, metals and mixtures decrease 21.3% YoY to US$2.69 billion.

In August, the export volume of rare earths in China was 4,063 metric tons, up 8.5% than in July this year.

Last month, the Ministry of Commerce announced the second batch of rare earth export quota of 9,770 metric tons for this year, taking its export quota for 2012 to a total of 30,996 metric tons, up 2.7% from a year earlier, China Knowledge reported earlier.
