saw its unemployment rate increase 0.09 percentage points in August this year to 4.4% from the 4.31% recorded in a month earlier, according to the latest statistics released by the island's Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics.
The increase in unemployment rate for last month was a partly due to the stream of new university graduates entering the job market.
In August, Taiwan's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.29%, higher than 4.25% it realized in July this year.
The number of unemployed people increased to 502,000 in August, and that of employed people was 10.9 million last month.
