The figure last month was 14.38 million metric tons lower than in July 2012.
In August, the cargo throughput of coastal ports reached 539.2 million metric tons, while that of inland ports was 252.85 million metric tons.
In the first eight months of this year, the cargo throughput of ports above designated size increased 6.1% YoY to 6.35 billion metric tons.
Meanwhile, the country’s container throughput rose 3.9% YoY to 15.11 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) last month, leading its total container throughput for the first eight months of this year to 114.8 million TEUs, up 7.4% from a year earlier.
