China's refined copper imports up 6.6% in Aug

Sep. 24, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China, the world's largest cooper consumer, imported 251,008 metric tons of refined copper in August this year, 6.6% more than in the same month of last year, according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.

The refined copper imports last month reflected a decline of 1.3% from July.

In the first eight months of this year, the country's refined copper imports amounted to 2.39 million metric tons, up 57.7% YoY.

Meanwhile, China's imports of copper concentrate increased 2.8% YoY to 694,515 metric tons in August, bringing its imports of copper concentrate to a total of 4.6 million metric tons in the first eight months, reflecting a YoY growth of 14.1%.
