Sep. 24, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China, the world's largest natural rubber importer, imported 210,542 metric tons of the material in August this year, 5.2% more than in the corresponding period of last year, according to the statistics released by the General Administration of Customs
The August imports were 21% more than in July 2012.
In the first eight months of this year, China's natural rubber imports grew 13.7% YoY to 1.37 metric tons, and the import value totaled US$4.58 billion, reflecting a decline of 18.3% YoY.
Last month, the country imported 111,823 metric tons of synthetic rubber. From January to August, China's synthetic rubber import volume totaled 950,413 metric tons, down 1.8% from a year earlier, with import value rising 1.1% YoY to US$3.49 billion.
