Sep. 19, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Chinese airlines reaped a combined profit of RMB 5.83 billion in August this year, reflecting a YoY decrease of 17%, according to figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
The profit for last month was lower than RMB 6.4 billion the Chinese airlines booked in July this year.
Last month, China's air passenger volume climbed 11.3% YoY to 30.71 million, while its cargo and mail throughput edge up 0.1% YoY to 455,600 metric tons.
In August, Chinese airlines realized RMB 39 billion in revenue, 7% more than in the same month of last year. Meanwhile their fuel costs decreased RMB 1.5 billion.
Chinese airlines suffered a combined RMB 560 million in exchange loss in August, compared with a combined exchange earning of RMB 1.48 billion in the same period of last year.
