, China's capital city, increased 7.8% year on year to RMB 62.87 billion in August this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Beijing Statistics Bureau.
The growth rate was 1.1 percentage points lower than that in the same period of 2011.
Last month, the city's retail sales of food grew 6.0% YoY to RMB 13.8 billion, and its retail sales of goods for daily use climbed 9.5% to RMB 38.63 billion. Retail sales of fuel rose 2.7% to RMB 5.59 billion, and retail sales of clothing grew 6.2% YoY to RMB 4.85 billion.
During the period from January to August, the city's retail sales amounted to RMB 489.12 billion, 11.8% more than in the same period of last year, and the growth rate was 0.6 percentage points lower than that in the first seven months.
