>, the flagship carrier of Hong Kong, has said Cathay Pacific and Dragonair, carried a total of 2.61 million passengers in August this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 4%.
Passenger load factor for last month fell 83.1% from a year earlier to 83.1%. Capacity measured in available seat kilometers or ASKs, grew 3% YoY.
Meanwhile, the two airlines' cargo and mail throughput reached 122,400 metric tons last month, 6.9% less than it realized in August 2011. The freight load factor was 61.9%, 3 percentage points lower than a year earlier. Capacity, measured in available cargo and mail tone km, declined by 6.1%.
In the first eight months of this year, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair saw the total passenger throughput increase by 6.7% and the capacity in terms of ASKs was up 5.8%.
The two airlines' cargo and mail throughput from January to August decreased by 9.6%. While the capacity, measured in available cargo and mail tone km, dropped 5.5%.
