's sales of passenger cars, including minibuses, amounted to 1.22 million units in August this year, up 11.3% YoY and 8.8% MoM, according to statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Last month, the sales of SUVs surged 24.46% from a year earlier to 164,300 units, and the sales of sedans increased 11.15% YoY to 864,300 units. The sales of MPVs grew 7.14% YoY to 40,300 units, and sales of minibuses increased 1.35% YoY to 150,000 units.
From January to August 2012, the country's passenger car sales totaled 9.95 million units, 7.98% more than it realized in the same period of last year. The sales of SUVs, sedans and MPVs reached 1.27 million units, 6.88 million units and 326,100 units, up 30.74%, 6.54% and 4.05% YoY, respectively.
Meanwhile, China produced 10.01 million passenger cars in the first eight months of this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 8.7%.
