TSMC's revenue up 32% in Aug

Sep. 11, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co or TSMC, the world's largest contract chip maker by revenue, had announced that its unconsolidated revenue grew 32% YoY to NT$48.9 billion in August from NT$37.04 billion in the same month of last year.

The unconsolidated revenue last month was higher than NT$47.92 billion it booked in July 2012.

Last month, the company saw its consolidated revenue rise 31.5% YoY to NT$49.5 billion from NT$37.65 it realized in August 2011.

TSMC plans to add 25% of its capital expenditure of about US$10 billion in 2013 to expand its capacity, said someone familiar with the matter.

The contract chip maker earlier reported NT$128.06 billion in consolidated revenue for the second quarter of this year, up 15.9% YoY, while its net profit for the period grew 16.3% YoY to NT$41.81 billion.
