>, China's largest port operator, has announced its cargo throughput reached 39.62 million metric tons in August this year, reflecting a YoY decrease of 1.46%.
The figure was less than 42.34 million metric tons it realized in July 2012.
Last month the company's container throughput was 2.61 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), 7.13% less than in the same month of last year.
In the first half of this year, the port operator booked RMB 2.25 billion in net profit, down 9.6% YoY, while its cargo and container throughput reached 251 million metric tons and 15.87 million TEUs during the six-month period, up 6.3% and 3.6% from a year earlier, respectively.
