Hainan Airlines' H1 profit down 25%

Aug. 31, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Hainan Airlines Co<600221><900945>, China's fourth-largest air carrier by fleet size, has announced its net profit attributable to shareholders decreased 25% YoY to RMB 499.03 million in the first half of this year.

Basic earnings per share were RMB 0.12 for the period, compared with RMB 0.16 it booked in the first half of 2011.

According to a statement, the air carrier saw its operation revenue for the six-month period grow 20.14% YoY to RMB 13.89 billion.

In the first half of this year, Hainan Airlines' passenger throughput reached 11 million, up 14.89% from a year earlier, while its cargo and mail throughput grew 2.37% YoY to 138,500 metric tons during the period.

As of Jun 30, 2012, the company had 109 aircrafts.
