saw its consumer price index (CPI) increased 2.6% YoY in July, according to the latest statistics released by the Beijing Statistics Bureau.
Last month the food prices went up 5.6% YoY, driven by a 29.4% increase in fresh fruits prices, while the prices of meat, poultry and processed products, fresh eggs and fresh vegetables dropped 2.3% 6.6% and 2% YoY, respectively.
The prices of cigarettes, alcohol and related products climbed 1.6% YoY, mainly driven by a 2.8% increase in alcohol prices, while the prices of household appliances and maintenance services edged up 2.7% from a year earlier.
The price of personal and health care products increased 0.9% YoY in Jul, while the price of transportation and telecommunications decreased 2.8% YoY.
According to the statistics, the city's housing prices rose 3.9% YoY last month, including a 4.9% increase in housing rentals and a 3.1% decrease in the price of building and decoration materials.
In the first seven months of this year, the country's CPI rose 3.4% YoY.
