Aug. 13, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's retail sales were RMB 1.63 trillion in July this year, up 13.1% year on year in nominal terms or 1.05% month on month, said the National Bureau of Statistics
The YoY growth rate was the lowest level in one year.
Total retail sales in urban areas rose 13.1% YoY to RMB 1.42 trillion last month, while retail sales in rural areas rose 13.6% YoY to RMB 216 billion.
Retail sales in the catering industry grew 12.7% YoY to RMB 182.9 billion in the month, while retail sales of consumer goods rose 13.2% YoY to RMB 1.45 trillion.
The retail sales of automobiles continued to top the country's retail sales list, reaching RMB 184.5 billion in July, up 4.7% YoY, but the growth rate has slowed down. Retail sales of oil and related products came in second, hitting RMB 135.1 billion, with a 11.3% growth.
In the first seven months, the country's retails sales totaled RMB 11.45 trillion, 14.2% more than in the same period of last year.
