Aug. 8, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Nissan Motor Co, Japan's No. 2 automaker by volume after Toyota Motor Corp, announced that its auto sales in China decreased 2% from a year earlier to 98,100 units last month.
This is the first time the Japanese automaker saw its China sales decline in 2012.
Dongfeng Nissan Auto Co, a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Automobile Co Ltd<600006
> and Nissan Motor, saw its China sales reach 70,100 units, 1.3% more than in the corresponding period of 2011.
From January to July 2012, the automaker's China sales amounted to 776,100 units, reflecting a YoY increase of 12%.
Meanwhile, Dongfeng Nissan's auto sales for the seven-month period reached 524,900 units, up 1.3% from a year earlier. The JV aims to sale 1 million autos this year.
