Aug. 8, 2012 (China Knowledge) - MediaTek Inc, the largest handset chipmaker in Taiwan
, announced yesterday that its consolidated revenue rose about 30% YoY or 17.86% MoM to NT$9.25 billion in July this year.
The revenue was the highest monthly level in 22 months, boosted by strong demand for its new affordable smartphone chips.
In the first seven months of this year, the company's consolidated revenue grew 9% YoY to NT$52.3 billion.
MediaTek said last week that its sales would increase between 13% and 18% from the second quarter to between NT$26.5 billion and NT$27.7 billion in the third quarter.
Shipments of smartphone chips are expected to surge 43% from Q2 to 30 million units in Q3.
