Aug. 7, 2012 (China Knowledge) - U.S. auto giant General Motors Corp and its China
joint ventures sold a total of 199,503 vehicles in July this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 15.1%, principally boosted by strong sales of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co.
Shanghai GM, a joint venture established with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC), saw its auto sales rose 5.7% YoY to 97,064 units last month. SAIC-GM-Wuling, a JV among SAIC, GM and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co, sold a total of 98,694 vehicles in July, surged 26.6% from a year earlier.
Meanwhile, FAW-GM, the joint venture between GM and FAW Group, saw its auto sales grew 3.1% YoY to 3,379 units last month.
Sales of Buick vehicles increased 4.8% YoY to 52,691 units last month, and sales of Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles amounted to 44,864 units and 2,017 units, respectively.
In the first seven months of this year, the automaker's sales in China
amounted to 1.62 million units, up 11.7% from the corresponding period of last year, including 736,613 units from Shanghai GM, 844,121 units from SAIC-GM-Wuling and 32,551 units from FAW-GM, up 6.5%, 17.4% and down 2.9%, respectively.
