Jul. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Chinese telecom operators saw their revenue from core business grow 9.2% YoY to RMB 517.53 billion in the first six months of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
The industry's total business volume was RMB 637.6 billion during the period from January to June, up 12.9% YoY, said the ministry
Revenue from mobile telecom business increased 11.2% YoY to RMB 376.24 billion in the first six months, accounting for 72.70% of the total core business revenue. The ratio was 71.37% in the same period of 2011.
Income from fixed-line telecom business rose 4.1% from a year earlier to RMB 141.29 billion, accounting for 27.30% of the total core business revenue, compared with a ratio of 28.63% in the corresponding period of 2011.
The telecom industry saw its core business revenue increase 8.3 % in East China, 10.7 % in Central China and 13.1 % in West China respectively.
The top five provinces that booked the highest telecom business revenue were Guangdong
Province and Sichuan
Province, in which their revenues were RMB 72.3 billion, RMB 41.6 billion, RMB 37.1 billion, RMB 30.6 billion and RMB 25.3 billion in the first six months, respectively.
