, the capital city of China, saw its tourism income rise 11% YoY to RMB 157.69 billion in the first half of this year, which accounted for 12.3% of the country's total, according to the latest statistics released by the Beijing Statistics Bureau
From January to June, a total of 103 million tourists visited the city, up 9.8% from a year earlier, of which 100 million were domestic tourists and 2.18 million were foreign tourists, grew 10.1% and 6.4% YoY, respectively.
The income from foreign tourism increased 4.2% YoY to US$2.6 billion during the six-month period.
Of the total foreign tourists, 892,000 were from Asia, 627,000 from Europe, 512,000 from America, 94,000 from Oceania and 39,000 from Africa, rose 6.2%, 8.4%, 2.8% 14.9% and 33% YoY, respectively.
In the first half of 2012, 382,000 U.S. tourists, 253,000 Japanese tourists and 230,000 South Korean tourists visited Beijing, in which they wholly accounted for 34.6% of Beijing
's total foreign tourists.
