Jul. 12, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's tourism revenue is expected to reach RMB 1.28 trillion in the first half of this year, 17.3% more than in the same period of last year, according to data from the China Tourism Academy.
The number of domestic visitors grew 14.6% YoY to 1.55 billion in the first half, and revenue from these domestic visitors jumped 20.1% YoY to RMB 1.13 trillion during the period.
China saw the number of inbound visitors at 66.25 million in the first six months, including 28.35 million overnight visitors. These inbound visitors brought in revenue of US$24 billion, 3% more than in the same period of 2011.
The outbound tourism market experienced a rapid growth during the period, seeing the number of outbound tourists rise 18% to 38 million.
In 2011, China's tourism revenue rose 20.8% YoY to RMB 2.25 trillion.
